Default Mobile Mechanic needed to install Alternator

Hello,

Haven't driven my car for two months. I was going to get the car prepped for my smog test, and it didn't start, which was expected. I jumped it, and started the car. When I took off the cables, the car died five minutes later, which wasn't expected. I"m guessing the alternator died, and so the battery wasn't charging.

Car is a 2002 IS300. Can't use a tow truck because the bodykit is low, and I don't have coilovers. I have the alternator just need someone to install it. I don't have any tools. I'll pay for your labor, gas, and meal. I live in Rowland Heights 91748 where the 57 and 60 freeways come together. Please PM me how much you charge and anyone that could vouch for you.

Thanks
Francis Clarito

yea, how do you know its the alternator? try taking the battery out to autozone/kragen and having them charging it before u put in the new alternator.

honestly, it is NOT a complex job...alternators are typically simple to put in but anyone in the SC/GS/IS forums could prolly help you out with it more than me, i have relatively low hands on knowledge with the 2JZ vvti motor...

How long did you jump the car? Sometime long term stored cars need a longer jump as the battery is completely depleted. Check the battery first, it's cheaper and easier than an alternator.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, greatly appreciated. I was thinking it was the alternator because so many times before I would jump it, and it run fine the whole day. This is the first time where it would die after removing the cables. I'll get it checked on my day off. Thanks again

Sounds like your battery is done.

+1 on battery.

After jumping the car on the same battery so many times.. the battery takes a pooper.

but for the alternator change.. The alternator itself is held by 3 bolts (2 bolts that hold the Alternator to the engine and 1 that holds the grounding wire).. well 2 nuts. just remove that.. slide it forward a lil and disconnect the harness thing and unbolt the hrounding wire.

of course it could be a lil different.. i did it on my Sc400..

Best of luck
