In California, it is illegal to tint your front side windows.
I figure if I tint the front side windows with 50% ceramic, odds are a cop won't notice. However 50% doesnt do much for privacy.
30% is certainly noticable and most likely will result in harrassment by cops.
Have any of your tinted your front side windows?
How many have gone beyond 50% from the front side windows?
Are you getting tickets? Are you considering having the tint removed?

 

i have 35% ceramic all the way around except the front windshield of course.. no problems so far! *knock on wood* but 35 isn't very dark or light.. so makes for a good balance.. 50% ceramic seems like a waste of $$$ imo..

 

Ive got fulll on 5% limo tint all around. but i put my windows down when cops roll by haha

but i really wouldnt recommend that dark, its almost impossible to see at night.

 

My cousin has 30% or 25% ceramic on his BMW all the way around and soon 75% on the windscreen ...we coudldn't do the front that day as the weather was not good... but cops haven't looked at his tint awkwardly yet.

 

I had like a 15 or 5.. I'm not sure. I got a ticket for them after about 1.5 years only because it was at night and one of my headlights was out.. so while he was giving me a warning he was feeling generous enough to give me the ticket. PLus it was at the end of the month.. damn quotas..

i had 5% limo tint and i got pulled over like 6 times in 3 weeks..... after that i tool it off and got 18% all around.... i like it a lot better.....

 

Yes, front window tints are illegal.

However, a cop typically won't pull you over for that alone. They might, but most likely, they won't waste your time with a $40 fix-it ticket.

Drive safely and cautiously, and you should be fine...

 

35% ceramic all around here. I told the dealer I bought from to tint them before the delivery and that was in Atlanta, GA.

 

so it seems 35 all around (minus windshield) is a good compromise.

i have 35% all around (except windshield), and it is noticeable - especially since my interior is black.

i haven't gotten pulled over for it, but just as long as i'm not acting like an a-hole on the streets and doing stuff that will most likely get me pulled over then i should be fine.

 

I've got 35% in the front and the cops don't really care. When I got pulled over, cop just knocked on my window and signaled me to roll it down. It doesn't even seen that dark during the day anyway.
