Default The price we pay for having a Lexus, recommendations please...

I'm so sick and tired of going to a shop to get something done, and the first thing they do is ask what car, even though it's irrelevant to what i'm getting done. Of course they hear the word lexus and they go crazy with an off the wall quote. I have a wideband and an EGT to be installed, i don't want anybody to install it for me, just make the hole and weld the bung! A maximum of 30 minutes for this job. Yet they hear lexus and quote me 200 for putting on 2 bungs!! what I went to many shops and i even got into arguments as to why they're correlating the quote with the car. I bet you if i had a POS Civic i would be quoted maybe 50 bucks. How are your experiences ladies and gents? Any fabricating or welding shops you guys recommend in Torrance area? I'll drive 20 miles if that's what it takes............

Well, calling it a toyota doesn't work when the car sits right there in front of the shop LOL By the way, madmax has nothing to do with the 80's movie...

Yes, I know the feeling. As soon as they hear that you have a Lexus, they automatically think you are dumbass and there just to throw extra cash at them for no reason.

When you go to the next shop, tell them that you want this done to your civic. When they tell you the price quote, if the price seems reasonable and right, tell them you change your mind and instead you want the same exact labor done on the lexus. Then that way, they won't charge you 10X what you should pay. If they do try however, then just walkout. They would've rip you off anyway. Since you live in Cali, I'm sure a fellow member can recommend you a trustworthy shop. Good luck and tell us how it goes.

lol 200 dollars, just add little more and get yourself welding machine that's what i did. small things like that you could do it at home without any problem. it will be well worth it later on and it's fun learning how to weld.
