Whenever I hear of a fatality due to street racing, Naturally, I get mad and disheartened, but when I hear of a major bust such as this, I'm glad and happy about it.
It's even more satisfying when the retarded street racer gets his car crushed,

Based on all the replies on this thread, I'm sure that seems to be the general sentiment around here....I'm sure 97% of us in here think they deserve to have to have been arrested and their cars impounded for 30 days and having to pay massive fees.

Cops are cracking down on everything now, even harmless car meets are getting raided because they often think attendants are meeting to "setup" for a street race, when in reality most people are just gathering together to discuss and enjoy each other's cars. It's sad to see that a few bad apples in the automotive community can ruin it for the rest of us. just be careful out there everyone.

It's easy to stand in judgement and call this thing stupid now that I am 37 and it really is stupid. However, it was exciting and appealing when I was younger. I used to go to the Ontario and Sylmar street races as a spectator in the 90's and it was insane. It was fun. I never raced, but mainly because my car was not on par with the competition.
One one occasion in 1994, I was at the Ontario races with my brother and a friend of ours and my bro told me to move my car because he had a bad feeling about where it was parked. I moved it up the street about 300 yards and, as I got out, a race started. The two cars came toward us and, just after they passed, some dolt in a Mazda MX-6 flipped a U-tur right in front of the two cars racing (dumb). Oce car made it past, but the other t-boned the Mazda hard and the MX-6 ended up going over the curb right where my AE86 had been parked before I moved it. There were no serious injuries, but that was my last time attending a street race. Imagine getting your car totaled while it was parked there and trying to explain that to your insurance company.

perfect reason to take it to the track instead. as some have noted, illegal street races will never die. this has been going on for over half a century. busts will happen every now and then; whether big or small. be careful guys.
o/t: ontario races mid 90s. i had 2 friends running (prelude vs civic, iirc). long story short. accident = 1 air lifted to nearby hospital and other taken by ambulance. both cars totalled. it was a mess with a lawsuit and broken friendships. take it to the track.
