I have a family friend who got in a minor incident with the CHP and he was fined 900 + the clerk made an error for his court appearance so he was late to show and therefore his license was suspended for one month? Any way to get it reinstated for school..He's fine about not going to work..Just needs it for school

I highly doubt the CHP will reinstate his license. I'm sure there are specific waivers that will grant him some driving privileges, but that will have to be filed through the DMV. Other than that, I really don't think he will be able to get his license back.

$900+ ? sounds like a hefty speeding ticket.

he can talk to the judge, and hopefully if he gets caught with a nice one, they can do that for him. I had a friend that was in the same shoes, and they allowed him to drive to work and school only!

yeah alot of judges will alllow permits to drive to school and work, depending on your family condition. So if they think your rich and dont need to work, they'll proabbly deny you.

If your living on your own, supporting a family, that kind of thing, you have better chances.

yeah 900 was for 101 on the freeway ..
Hmnn he's only 1 class away from graduating I wonder if they'll be able to reinstate it. (for his masters)

lol 101 on the freeway? judge will most likely say no esp for a 30 day suspension.... did they impound the car too?

No the officer marked it as an infraction; I think he was paced..he gave me back my X50 just a week before this happened.

Based on experience, anything in excess of 100+ will PROBABLY not be granted access to driving. Unfortunately, he will have to rely on public transportation or have someone drive him around. I would advise that he not drive his car because getting caught on a suspended license will put him off even more.
