New Blackberry Storm

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if anyone here owns the new blackberry storm because my plan is almost over and i was planning to get that phone. But then the thing is when i checked with the place that im getting it from, they said that if i get that phone it is required that i get the internet plan or something which is 30 bucks a month...and im signing up for a two year plan meaning 24 MONTHS! so if you do the math...that be 720 bucks! so thats about 1 grand for a flippin phone!

i was just wondering if every verizon place is like that or is it just my place...

Yeah you have to get that plan thats the only catch for blackberrys. Thats the only thing that stopping me from getting the storm.

I got one..but I thought I had a option to not get the internet

there is a slight lag on it tho..

Why would you get an internet capable phone and not get the internet package? The Storm sucks in my opinion. The clicking screen is weird and it's never a good thing when the demo phone freezes in the store.

I was pretty hyped about the Storm too. I had a chance to play with it for a little while and was disappointed. The click screen was weird but cool in a sense. The keyboard interaction was not intuitive. Sometimes, you need to click and sometimes you don't. The browser sucked and froze on me several times.

It has the potential to be pretty cool but it does not seem ready for primetime at this point.

I've used a couple of BlackBerry Storms and I agree with Anna - I don't like it at all. I currently have an iPhone and a BlackBerry Curve. The Storm's click screen doesn't allow you to type fast, and the touch screen is not nearly as responsive as my iPhone (nor can I type nearly as fast as I can on my iPhone). There's also a consistent problem with the corners of the screen being non-responsive, that people are solving my putting pieces of paper and business cards (can you believe this??) between the screen and battery. I'm too heavy a user of email to deal with issues like this on my blackberry - I'll be keeping my Curve.

The Storm is what it is...a natural disaster waiting to happen. If you're looking to jump into the Blackberry world and you're willing to go with any carrier, BB Bold FTMFW.

As for the Storm, it's slow, it's terribly buggy and is very cumbersome to use and operate. The iPhone is the benchmark in touchscreen phones. The Instinct isn't so bad, but lacks the quickness of the iPhone.

but I do admit that I hate the lagging..oh well..I'll just get a new one soon AGAIN

BTW, if you are looking for a touch screen,,I recommend the DARE from verizon

you should definitely try it out before you buy it. i had my heart set on getting the storm until i tried out the demo at the store and a friend's storm. i was not impressed at all...

The one part that is bad with the storm no wifi, poor interface and the suspension touch screen. It’s so hard to type with the storm you got to press hard on screen just to type … it’s not like the iphone or htc touch screens devices it doesn’t respond to soft touch to the screen… if you’re a heavy text msg person or email I don’t think it’s the right phone for you esp. with the cramp touch screen keyboard. That’s my 2 cent about the storm

oh dang! lmfao good thing i asked for all ya'll opinions!
so now definitely no more storm even for me even if they offer me the choice of not getting the internet package

yea i think ill check out the LG dare and see how that one goes, it was the second one on my list.
My friend was telling me how the Dare's video camera thing was pretty sick cuz he recorded his golf swing with it and you can watch it in slow mo

thats definitely a plus for me, cuz im a golfer myself...saves me from bringing my camcorder around and being kicked off the driving range for using it lmao!

talking bout benchmarks :P HTC Touch HD pwns iphone in every category cept price LOL. prolli cost more than than our front lips :P sick phone tho. As for the storm, am glad you guys are here to inform us bout its flaws.

I am pretty happy with my Dare. The Contacts app is inferior to the ones on the BB but otherwise it works for me. The browser on the Dare is not anything to write home about either but it is slightly better than the one on the Storm.
