Yo, where exactly are you? I can try to get rid of the oxidation with my buffer. I've worked on CF before (Vorsteiner BMW hood) and it didn't seem too bad for me. Just come down to me (Mission Viejo) one weekend and I'll take care of it for a fellow CL'er

I'm not advertising either, I just want something to polish again mods (uber bored) >.<

Only a panel though

I have a Jaguar bootlid I've been working on for fun but I need something more of a challenge. I'm contemplating on using a brillo pad against it to test my skills lol . CF is also fun to work with too. After I finished my friends hood for BIMMERFEST I could not focus properly on the weave since it was so shiny and glossy. Very cool effect

OP, do you have any pics of the damage? That way I can tell you if its easily polished out or not because sometimes its the resin in the CF that is acting up, which might mean a lot of trouble for you

I'm pretty sure that's just the gelcoating that's been weathered...

I might be able to make some improvement on it. I'm not too sure of the white patch in the middle though...

If you got time this Friday, bring it down. I'll be home most of the day since I don't have school that day. I just can't do it after 6pm thats all. Otherwise, shoot me a PM and we'll work out a day.

We don't know until we try

i believe you can polish that out. I've seen worse on a s2000 hood and it polished right out with meguiars stuff.

Just got back from Isaacs house and he made the hood look like a totally different hood. Id Say it went from a 4/10 to a 6 or 7/10

He took some pics. Post em up Isaac.

There's some stuff for laminates that you can specifically use to clear gel coat materials...

Overall its a decent improvement. You can at least see a reflection in the thing. I only had the stock Makita backing plate on me and not too strong compounds to polish with and the CF hood was very easy to push in for some reason so it wasn't reacting properly to everything I had on me. Its not my best work but hey, I was amused for about 2 hours, as was Tommy. Its not to my OCD standards but Tommy loved it so I'm happy
