San Gabriel shooting
*mods, if this should be moved to the clubhouse, please do so. i listed in so cal since this tragedy occurred in the area.
coffee house shooting occurred late last night. hope no CL'ers were there.
from threads created, last year, some CL'ers frequent similar places...
so you gotta think: personal vendetta against the establishment? no specific people were targetted...
wow i thought these types of things heeded years ago

Wow. This place is like a street away from where I live. That's sad to hear. I thought Rosemead/San Gabriel is a peaceful area. I think it's a grudge on the Coffee House. He just randomly opened fire.

Yeah, it's in that plaza. Yeah same here, I thought gangs were done with the San Gabriel area. Damn, if they are starting to blend into the background, that won't be good.

first of all, condolences to the victim(s).
if this was gang related, i don't think it should come as a surprise to those of us who have grown up or are familiar with the SGV. areas that are highly populated with foreign immigrants/minorities have always been a hotbed for gang activities, and the SGV isn't an exception.
i think all this concern about safety in san gabriel valley is getting blown out of proportion. i don't think there should be a cause for alarm when eating out in the sgv. just avoid smaller restaurants/hole-in-the-walls, and try to avoid going to these places late. case in point, the shooting didn't take place at a crowded restaurant/tea shop at meal times/busy hours/day time, but at 11:15 at night when there weren't that many customers.
it's not like we need to drive around in armored lexuses and wear carbon kevlar in the SGV; all you need is some common sense and a bit of caution.
