Q How much is the VLF increase?

A The current VLF rate is 0.65 percent and will increase to 1.15 percent for most vehicles, an increase of 0.5 percent.

D'oh! Didn't click the FAQ.

0.5 percent isn't as bad as I thought, especially since my car is 10 years old. Sorry for the guys with newer car

i've always thought they should be raised as the car ages. maybe we wouldn't have smog and some automotive companies might still be in business. why penalize a person buying a new car.

The VLF is a tax in lieu of property tax, similar to what you pay on your real property. Its a percentage based on market value ( cost new less average depreciation). It's not penalizing new car owners. Keep in mind my used car was once a new car, and I have been paying the VLF on it every year for the past few years.

Unable to determine registration fees due. More than 75 days before renewal fees are due.

what do you think we IS F owners have to pay? I think mine was originally close to 500....so 0.5% more is not too bad, i thought it was double?
