Default Modified Exhaust Citation

I finally got an exhaust citation for my straight single exhaust on my SC400. I know you are allowed to have a modified exhaust as long as it follows the guide line of being under a certain DB and passes smog. Anyone know where to find references on this or the CVC itself? Has anyone ever gone through a fix it ticket for their exhaust or could offer advice? And if anyone knows a good exhaust shop experienced in SC400s in the 90026 area. Thanks

The sound limit is 95db. You will need to make an appointment with the state REF to get it tested, but when you're there they will inspect your car very closely for any illegal mods.

You can get it tested at a certified smog station that offers DB testing. I don't have the stock exhaust so I can't bolt that back on. I'm half way there... my car passes smog but it doesn't pass the noise test. My exhaust is a straight pipe from the middle cat. If I add resonators will it make it quieter? Where could I get a DB meter? I know they measure from 2500K RPM to 4500K RPM or something like that. I honestly don't want to replace the set up I have but I don't mind adding resonators.

There was a temporary suspension of BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair) because the government was lagging on the budget, but they have been back in business since the budget was finalized.

When you go to the ref for a modified exhaust correction they don't even do a smog test. It is just a visual inspection to make sure you have all the proper emissions equipment in the correct locations, any engine mods have CARB numbers, and they test how loud your car is. It is a simple process assuming you aren't turbo or swapped.

I got an exhaust ticket before. I left everything the way you see it below and I went to a referee to get db tested and it was right at 95db. When I did it, they have you some wiggle room of +/- 1 or 2 dbs. I ended up paying the ticket first, but in the end got back all of it, minus the $10 fix it fee, which is stupid because I really didn't fix anything or do anything wrong.

My advice, if you are sure your exhaust is under 95db, go get it tested. But if it's not sure, you're better off putting the stock back on and getting it written off.

LOL I'm pretty sure my exhaust is above 95 DB but the problem is I don't have a stock exhaust system so that's sort of out of the question. So would resonators quiet my system?

Here's a video from the guy I bought it from.

Hey do you know what RPM ranges they tested your exhaust at?
