Default Dealership damaged rims while changing tires

I had my tires changed at Lexus Santa Monica last week. Today, I noticed that three of my stock rims had some paint scratched off around the edges.

It's not major damage, but it bothers me to look at it because I take really good care of my GS. It's the only visible damage I have. Do you think the dealership will replace my rims, or will they say the damage is a normal part of tire replacement?

if you can prove that they did the damage, maybe they'll offer to refinish it, but i doubt it... you should have brought it to their attention initially

damage is NEVER part of a tire replacement, they should pay for replacements or repair.

Get into the habit of taking pictures of your rims whenever you get the tires changed or rotated. Then do a full walk around before you leave. Its what I've been doing for quite some time and it has helped once at the dealership

My argument here would be that Lexus Santa Monica is the only place I've had tire rotations and replacements done. They have records of that. There's no other way my rims could have been damaged they way they are. I can understand if they denied scratching my car door or something. That kind of damage could happen anywhere. But rim scratches around the edges could only happen during service.

Besides that, Lexus Santa Monica does a walk-around of each car, marking a form showing any pre-existing damage. If they deny causing the damage, I plan to point to that form.

Given that I have no pictures, and that I noticed the damage a couple days after the my visit, would this be my best argument?

BTW, I always inspect my car before leaving the dealership. This time, I just didn't see the rim damage until a couple days later.

Well, once you left the dealership premises, how can you really prove that it wasn't your fault to begin with? That will probably be their counterargument

they can just say its curb rash after you left. Your best bet is talking to the manager/boss/owner and even then its diecey, odds are you wont win.

I've had a curb rash before. It doesn't look anything like what they did. If they claimed it as such, I think I'd have a good argument against it.

Besides, I brought my car back this morning and they agreed the damage was done by them. There wasn't any arguing. I pointed the damage out, the manager came to look at it, and they gave me a loaner car.

Not sure if they're going to use touch-up paint or if they'll just replace the rims. At this point, I'm just glad they didn't give me a hard time like many of us would have thought.

That's nice that they stepped up.

They will not replace the wheels.

They'll use a mobile guy to refinish and paint the wheels I'm sure.

I'm glad they stepped up
now, make sure you double check your rims and do a thorough walk around before you drive off the parking lot

stealer tends to poorly take care of your car,,
so I try to avoid going to stealer,,and if I have to, I don't let them wash my car
