hi guys,
i just got my first fix ticket today, and they wrote my car is "too low", " smoked tail light" and "exhaust".....
i was wondering what can i do? can i borrow some one's IS to get the ticket done? because all they wrote was 06 LEXUS IS BLACK....
or it have to be my car...?
also what is the definition of "too low"?
they are just being an A S S....my car is not even loud.... too dark...and too low....
thanks alot!
Nick

i take it the ticket has your plate number on it. so that ties to the VIN. swapping plates and using someone else's car is a roll of the dice. might work, might not. and if not it will be bad.
just fix it and make sure you don't have anything else "wrong" with your car (ie. front plate). because when i got a front plate ticket and fixed it they checked EVERYTHING else.
whatever you decide to do, good luck with that.

WOW... never heard "TOO LOW" citation !! I'm sure they have it some where in their own LAW book but... sorry to hear that man !!!
Smoked Tail is risky to have it, IMO (unless it's the Hella or factory made smoked tails). Once you get rear ended, they can able to fight or even a lawsuit b/c of your blacked out tail ! So please be careful with that....

there are a few CVCs that apply that might help you fight your tickets:
CVC 24008 states that no part of the car can be lower than the lip of the wheel rim
CVC 24400 states that the headlight filament must be between 22" and 54" from the ground, measured straight up vertically.
if you pass both of those tests, you are not "too low".
CVC 27151 states that it is unlawful to modify the exhaust of any vehicle under 6000lbs GVW such that the sound produced exceeds 95db when tested with the Society of Automotive Engineers Standard J1169.
again, worst comes to worse you ask for a BAR ref ticket, you go to the station, and they test your car to make sure it's not more than the allowed 95db.
tinted tails, well those are pretty much 100% illegal UNLESS you have a RED reflector somewhere on the back of your car. The CVC being broken when you get cited for tinted tails is CVC 24607 (below).

But like stated above, switching plates is very hit or miss. When i've gotten fix it tickets signed off i've had some cops just glance over my car, while i've had others check all vins. I would advise you to not do that, because if you do get caught.......... prepare to be screwed by the long ***** of the law.
*******edit, thanks for posting the CVC ^post above me
