Default SRT intake and smog test "test only" place

So I have an SRT intake with the piggyback ECU chip wired and its due for a smog check at a Test Only place. Do guys think I should just put the stock air filter setup on there before taking it?

Also, do I need to un-wire the piggyback or can I just leave it there when doing the smog? I would of course not like to dickaround with the wiring cuz it can be a PITA.

I dont know how the piggy back ecu chip looks, but if it looks stock and not as noticeable then just put the stock air filter back on and save you the trouble and money of getting an illegal smog.

and i dont know any smog place that will charge an extra 60 for an illegal smog. that is very very cheap for something like that.

$60 flat rate for an illegal smog? thats not gonna happen. normally a regular smog cost around $55. so an extra 5 bucks to make it pass lol

lol ok but that still doesnt help the OP.

Like i said as long as the check engine light isnt on and the piggy back ecu looks stockish then youre good with just putting the original stock airbox back in.

as long as the PCV hoses are still connected to the intake the might not hassle you. its highly unlikely that the tech will look at your ecu during the test. and like the other guy said, as long as the check engine light isnt lit up during the test youre all good. now, dont go and unplug/remove your check engine light bulb, cause if you do, youll fail for that. reason being we actually check that the check engine light itself works.

Yeah the SRT piggyback chip is inside the black plastic box the ECU sits in so I dont think they open that up at all.

The only thing I'm concerned though, SRT states on the manual to not have the piggyback plugged in and use the stock air filter box. Says it will cause engine damage, although I dont know if that can happen.

if you have an aftermarket intake they will ask you for the EO number so its best to just put the stock one back in.

and what i would do is go to the smog shop, put the stock air box back in, then after the test just put the srt intake in just incase the srt ecu will do damage. but i doubt anything will happen, especially for that short amount of time.

Yeah I also think it won't damage anything if you use the stock air box for only the test. Its not like the SRT intake gives it a great deal of flow.

The other thing is though, I'm not sure if it will pass with that chip on there.

The chip is a SAFC with different air to fuel mixtures programed in I believe.

Do you guys think they will tell me something about the SRT intake if I take it to a Test Only smog shop?

I'm pretty sure the car can pass the smog test, emission wise.

you won't pass the visual without a CARB approved intake or OEM.

you can leave the SRT "ecu" on, no worries.
