53$ is kinda steep for an oil filter wrench, anyone know anywhere else to purchase this for cheaper or a discount code for sewell? thanks

Cant you get these at any autoparts store? I mean it wont be chrome but I bought a whole set of these at Harbor Freight for $23 and i have yet to meet a filter that one of these did not fit

The IS filter isn't like a SC filter. The SC uses a canister while the IS uses a cartridge, so removing the cover requires a tool that is an exact fit (to prevent denting and stripping). The problem with using a generic autozone filter cup is that it is designed to fit multiple sizes and when using it most people don't care if the filter gets damaged in the process since you are not going to reuse the filter.

update.. i followed the DIY for my oil change.. the size F filter wrench from autozone works, but like as stated, it does cause minor stripping of the filter canister cap.. i went to lexus of westminster and bought a case of oil filters and i asked them how much the filter wrench was.. they said it was only 15$ . also, for any 2IS's interested.. the oil filter is 10$, but if you mention that you are from clublexus it goes down to 5$, so you might as well buy a case to stock up
