I am planning to purchase some ultra blue LED bulbs for my license plate lights, is it legal in California?

I have heard from my friend that it is all depends on the cop’s mood that day, is that true?

i thought about blue to, since it would complement the car nicely, but blue is an automatic no no. sadly its gotta be white. i think a few cars rock pink fogs (could be overlays or the actual bulbs), and im not sure if they've been picked yet. any color besides red, orange/yellow, and white is just asking for attention of the unwanted kind.

 

sometimes I think it's illegal to pump gas in California. (Joke)

 

you are going to get rolled on for sure. I would steer clear of blue license plate lights. The white LED boards work well in there though.

 

blue is rice imo... dont do it. and yes blue is illegal.

Just through some of nigels LED boards in there. That's what I did and it looks great.

 

Put it this way.

It's not illegal if the car is in park. Or if it's in a race track or off road.


However, if you are caught with it while driving, you can be cited for "impersonating a cop", which is GUARANTEED jail time and car impound.

 

do u just change the bulb or u have to change the whole thing?
