I was gonna leave this thread to slowly die, but since a few people are still posting here. I feel like i have to share how i got my car back. Basically got my car impounded at around 1:30 am. Came home at around 4. Went to the dmv at 8 the next morning, was trying to figure out how in the hell i was gonna get my car out. Had my pops notarize a document in Brazil stating that he is releasing the car to me. This document was then given to one of his acquaintances that was coming to LA. Picked up the document, went to the Brazilian consulate. Went down to the station, they approved the papers and went down to the impound lot. Ended up paying close to 400 dollars including towing fees, lapd fees, sr-22 fee to my insurance company, and 55 dollars to the dmv to reinstate my license. Two long stressful days, seeing my car towed away was somewhat painful. Kinda thought it was funny seeing them struggling for an hour and half trying to figure out how they were gonna put my car up on the flatbed.
Once again, thanks for all the input guys.

I don't know where your dad's residing, in what country rather, yet Japan and South Korea have "notorized service" @ their U.S. Embassy officials. Your dad needs to get his letter and notorized it from them with a sealed envelope.
Sorry to hear that..
