Default Visiting Santa Barbara, what is there to do?

Hello all,

I'll be visiting Santa Barbara next weekend with my gf and I was wondering if any locals or anyone had any recommendations on things to see, do, and places to eat. We will be traveling from SF and it will be our first time in Santa Barbara. Thanks again in advance.

Go to the Pier. Have a beer at the Harbor Restaurant. Explore all the nearly tasting rooms of local wineries.

ADDENDUM: Oh, and rent a Ducati. Explore on two wheels. www.RentaDucati.com

Ride the Land Shark!
Eat at CaDario, go to the Sandbar. What are you looking to do there. I have tons of recommendations if you want...

^ +1 State Street is a must. Go to the shops in Paseo Nuevo on State Street. Also, you might want to check out the historic Courthouse (go to the top of the tower) and the Mission.

Most of the good Santa Barbara County wineries are in Solvang/Santa Ynez.

I agree, the top of the courthouse and it's view are a must.
I also recommend Brophy Brother's on the pier. Great food and great setting. A drive around Mission Ridge Road affords a nice loukout of the basin and ocean. Lastly, the Zoo is a great way to spend a few hours. One of the nicer zoo's in CA.

^ Brophy Brothers is in the harbor, not on the pier. Good seafood, just ate there yesterday.

Ah yes, thanks. A walk to the end of the harbor breakwater is also fun especially if it's high tide and the waves are hitting the rocks.
So what do you like ordering when at BB?

Hey Fizzboy-do you visit Santa Barbara often? The CL scene is pretty non existent up here. I've been thinking of setting up a meet in SB and see who will show up. A couple of people have shown interest...

I try usually go to Brophy's on Fridays with co-workers and always get oysters, then fish & chips, tuna sandwich, or clam chowder.

I wish I visited more often! Last time was '08. I make it as far as Carpinteria for camping, but that's been about it. I'll keep you guys in mind!

Whenever I go to SB I always go to Cliff's it's a good mom and dad shop with a decent menu on there. You can always go visit the Mission up there even though many people don't care about religion but it's really neat place to visit. If you go to Carpinteria and want to experience a different type of steak house try out "The Palms" they have live music near the bar at night and the food is good as well.

Thanks to all members for the great info. I'm not sure what we're going to end up doing, probably play it by ear. I know for sure we're looking to find cool/unique places to eat and shop.
