Default New here, trying to smog a car I just bought

Hi I'm new here, bought a used 92 SC400 and trying to smog it. The car failed smog, I took it to a mechanic and he says I need to change the front 2 O2 sensors, and possibly the rear ones and the cats as well. I have 2 questions:

1. The mechanic told me that even if I buy Denso sensors, they are still not as good as the OEM sensors you get from the dealer. Is this true? What exactly is the difference?

2. He told me that if I have to replace the cats, they have to be OEM bought from the dealer to be legal. But what about all the CARB legal universal units? Are all the CARB legal magnaflow cats not CA legal??? Any help would be much appreciated.

I believe that the dealer uses Denso for their sensors.

Just do what i did...find a friend or a family member in an area in CA where there is no smog and register your car at that address. Problem solved! lol
