Default Modified Lexus in SoCal... How legal?

Well there is a strong possibility that I could be making my way to the SoCal area come the end of the year and well I have a feeling that my current 1JZ SC300 isnt going to be legal in a whole lot of ways. Ive tried looking online and its hard to get a real definitive answer. Could anyone be kind enough to fill me in? Id rather not have to sell my car if I didnt have to.

I have to see if I can even own the car out there first, haha. Florida doesnt require me to worry about emissions/smog. Id hate to part with the car but if its going to be more hassle then its worth then I will. I imagine there has to be ways around smog and all the bull**** laws out there. I mean I see tons of modified cars out there.

You're right about the smog. Some people pay like $200 or something for the smog place to pass them anyways. Just depends who you know.

I kind of figured you had to "know" someone. Has anyone had an issue similar to this? Or should I just register it in a family members name and keep it a "florida car"?

there are laws governing ride height, headlight height, wheels sticking out past the fenders, exhaust, intake, engine work, safety equipment and so on -- you'll soon learn which places to stay away from and who to take the car to for smog work haha. i drove a 240sx, SR swapped, straight piped exhaust, slammed, for 3 years with no issues

REALLY?! My friend barely had a freshly swapped SR into his 240 and got caught within the second month. He had to get it entirely checked out so he had to sell it. I guess that's a loophole that he used to get out of it.

You gotta 'know' someone to pass smog if you know what I mean.
