Default I think I just got scammed by the towing truck from accident

On my way home from dinner, I get T boned by 96 dodge caravan on a mini intersection. Right when i come out of the car, a guy wearing a traffic unit sweater offers me to tow my car to a collision center (before i got to call my insurance company) I was skeptical at first but he handed me his business card and said that he will tow my car for free. The ambulance came first and asked me to move my car so the towing guy said he would move it for me. Pretty much my car is on this guys towing truck. I saw the logo on the truck and it looked legit to me. After the police exchanged information with me and the caravan driver, the towing guy gave me some paper work. It says hes gonna tow it to Matrix Collision Center, but how can I trust this guy? He said to call tomorrow morning and the car will be there...Iam very worried that this was a scam...anyone know about bandit towing??

giving us the name of the tow truck (or asking one of the cops that took the report about him) would help.

^ Yep. He "works" for a collision center. He will probably drop your car off there, but once you say no to their estimate they will slap you with the towing fees before they release your car to you. Probably put an express lien on the vehicle too, so the only way to get it back is to pay up.

Yup, never trust a tow truck guy from a collision or auto body shop, they will screw you over IF there is nothing in paper stating they won't charge you at all, AND release your vehicle to you if you say no to their estimate.

hahahah

the reason why i laughed because it happened to me.

he said no charge but u have to fix the car at his place. if u dont he will charge the towing fees, storage fees... the guy that scammed me also said that i have to replace my parts with OEM parts only. My insurance payment was lower than his quote because they replace my OEM Lexus with aftermarket brand parts which was 300 dolars cheaper. i told the guy that my insurance will not cover and he told me to take my car somewhere else because they will not repair with aftermarket parts. i ask him why not and he told me that aftermarket will not align properly and a bunch of ****s... anyways he told me that he would charge towing and storage fee which was 25 dollars a day and 140 for the towing. My car was in his shop for like 7 days before my damn adjuster arrived. so i got slapped with $315 before taxes if i dont do the repair. If i do, i only have to pay 300 dollars more...

^ Although you don't HAVE to replace your parts with only OEM parts, why would you not want to? Aftermarket parts are not always as well built as OEM parts and yes, they don't always fit right either. Plus if you ever have to resell the car, you want that receipt showing OEM parts were used.

The towing and storage fees are BS tho! lol
