Default $200 Ticket?!?! WTF?

I got a ticket a few weeks back, because the driver and front passenger windows had a limo tint. I'm going to remove the tint this week. I got my ticket in the mail today. Bail Amount: $194!

What the F***?!

I thought a window tint ticket cost like $25?

I got this ticket in Chatsworth, CA (At least that's where the court is at).

Wtf man, I don't have $200 for this! If I remove it and go to court early, will the fee be even less?

That's if the officer issues a fix it ticket. I'm not sure if you can fix and sign it off without getting a fix it ticket issued... Hopefully someone can chime in.

The full fine is $194. That's if you dont remove the tint and just pay the fine. If you remove the tint, you can get it signed off and only pay the $25 "fix it ticket fee" since its a correctable violation.

thats only if the officer wrote correctable. Happened with my bro and his front license plate. he got the ticket, it was like 150 or something, went to get it signed off, paid $25, they mailed the $25 check and the ticket back... U gotta go talk to the judge to get the ticket "correctable" and extension date. Then you will be able to get away with just a fix it ticket which cost $25

Interesting, all tickets like tint, front license plate, etc should have correctable violation checked off, since they all are correctable.I've never got a ticket or heard of anyone getting a ticket for this kinda stuff that wasn't correctable...i guess some cops wanna give you a hard time? lol

^I know! A few of my friends have been popped for what should be correctable/ fix its, but the officers who nailed them wrote non-correctable, which jacks up the amount horrendously. But it should be about $25 for fix its, at least I still hope it's that amount

So, lets say that I remove the tint by Tuesday, and later on this week I go to court. [My court date isn't til the 15th of July, but I can go early, right?] Would I have them sign it off, or do I need to find an officer to sign it off?

I'm sorry if that's a real dumb question, this is the first time something like this has happened to me, and not really sure how to get something signed off.

He marked NO for Correctable violation. Am i ****ed?

If I go talk to the judge, will they give me a correctable violation, so I can just pay the $25 instead of the $194?

If he marked "NO" for correctable violation, which he shouldn't have since its correctable almost anywhere else, guess you will just have to ask the judge to make it a $25 fine like a fix it ticket if you fix it.

I spoke with one of my friends earlier. He said remove the tints, go to any CHP department, and ask an officer to write off the ticket. Than go to Court, show the write off, ask for a correctable ticket, and either extend my court date, or pay the $25 up front.

Personally, I'd rather pay the $25 up front. The court date is the day after my birthday, and I don't feel like going to court in the morning.

^ you shouldn't have a problem getting this as a correctable ticket. The same thing happened with me. I just let the person at the window know that my ticket was marked as non-correctable and paid the $25 fee.
