Default 'HELP!! Today my wife caused $17,000 worth of damage

Today, my wife poured about a cup of transmission fluid in the hybrid coolant reserve of our 2006 hybrid rx400h. "Check Engine" light came on after driving it and car won't start.

Can anyone recommend a non-dealership in san diego? We live in Carlsbad. The dealer's estimate is $17,000 (there is no typo here). The car has 50k miles and i would appreciate any suggestions. Thoughts? Sympathy? Divorce attorney? Seriously thanks for your help for alternatives to the Lexu$ Dealer$hip.

Damn serious? I hope your ****ting us LOL

but if your not...

I know a couple good people, but they are all in the 626 areas, which is a good 1.5 hours from Carlsbad probably. I used to know a guy in San Marcos, but he closed shop. If you want, i can ask the people i know over here....cuz i dunno about $17,000 in damage...seems pretty freicking crazy.

Why did your wife have a cup of transmission fluid anyways again?...lol

Can't you just flush out the coolant? I don't understand why the car wouldn't start for just putting tranny fluid into the cooling system.

What is written up on the estimated repair sheet?

That is A lot of fixing for a cooling system. If it has integration with the Hybrid electrical system for cooling that might be the expense there. I don't know.

Need details on what was written up for the rest of us to help.

I'm sure there's gotta be someway to flush it, but it might be a little like diesel in a gasoline engine...once you start it up, it aint as easy as siphoning it out if you hadn't started the motor.

Flush out thew coolant system as lexus would, and then see your results.

-what if it is just a sensor that is picking up an irregularity in the fluid and shutting the system off for safety purposes?

you never know. It may be a really simple fix that the dealer is looking to cash in on.
