Just to re-iterate a point just in case anyone missed it...

"Do not pay your red-light camera tickets. Not now and not ever!

However, red-light tickets issued in cities outside L.A. (but within the county because they also go through the L.A. County Superior Court) "are probably more or less in the same boat." But so far, "L.A. is the only one stating on the record that you don't have to pay."

I assume that the same goes for OC and other areas. It's a legal loophole and I doubt they patched it with other cities before they made it go into effect. Reasoning is because in order to get something like that approved, it probably had to go on a bill and would have had to pass through legislation.

That, and the fact that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Even if the camera shows your face, you can vehemently deny that the person in the picture is you. Trial costs and all that would not be worth it for the city to fight and they usually drop it. I think.

Is the "ticket" from the MRCA? Because that's what I got and I'm not gonna pay this.

I've been reading a lot of stuff.

I read about 2 class action lawsuits, but from what I read last, they're including the MRCA and that I have to pay now? I'm not so sure. Here is the link though:

http://www.highwayrobbery.net/redlig...ssActMRCA.html

and

http://www.highwayrobbery.net/TrcDoc...rrerRuling.pdf

And I just don't know what to do.

I responded in the freedomminute.com posts, and hope that someone can answer me.

I did copy a template to write to the Collection Agency, in case I choose not to pay, and I start getting harassed by them.

Here's the template:

Regarding: MNTN REC CONSERVATION AUTHORITY

Reference #: [number]

Dear RSI Enterprises,

I have been contacted by your company about a debt you allege I owe. This is not a valid claim and I am instructing you not to contact me further in connection with this alleged debt. Under the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, you may not contact me further now that I have notified you not to do so.

Further, should your alleged claim of debt appear on my credit record I will a) report RSI Enterprises to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, Bureau of Consumer Protection and b) sue RSI Enterprises for fraud.

Sincerely,
[Name]

^If anyone else here got a ticket from the MRCA and choose not to pay, then I encourage using this template also.

This is what I'm probably gonna do.

Also, I forgot to mention this.

The system they have is done in a way that the photograph takes just 2 photos. One photo of your car, and the other photo is a close up of your license plate.

THERE IS NO PHOTO OF THE DRIVER!!

So, technically, there is no proof of me driving the car, so yeah.

I read my dad's ticket over last night and it does not say MRCA any where. It is a ticket from the City of Santa Ana. It also offers traffic school as well. I am assuming this is different from the things that you guys are mentioning?

Thanks for the help!
