Stop Sign/Light Violations No Longer Enforced?
So, I got a stop sign violation, there is a photo, there is a video showing me not stopping (I technically did, yielded at least, and my tail lights have been giving me problems for sometime).
Anyway, when I told my gf about this, she said that she was talking to her coworkers and even with her Uncle, that the State of California is no longer enforcing these, because the camera's are messed up or something?
She basically told me that I don't have to pay this fee, and when I asked why, she wasn't really able to give me any actual evidence or knowledge as to why I shouldn't. Just told me to do research on it, but I haven't really found anything online yet.
Just wondering if anyone here has heard about anything like this that's happening to the state?

When prompted on the LA Superior Court website, it does state that those cameras would be taken down. But I still see them in effect on many money-making intersections. I'm not sure if they're actually going to get taken down, as I do feel cars might slow down when they do catch a glimpse of the cameras. Was the violation posted before July 31st?

The stop sign violation was posted on August 3rd (1 time) and August 4th (twice).
I got 3 violations all together, and the cost is $175 each. I don't have $525 to pay for this!
I just started school today, I need the money to buy books. :|

The thing is, I didn't get the letter from a Superior Court from the City the violation happened.
Instead, it's from "Mountains Recreation & Conservation Authority Photo Enforcement Program". I was driving on a Canyon Rd when this happened.
So will this same rule apply to me, or what?

It doesn't even go on your record apparently, super shady...they just accrue interest if you don't pay...there's a class action lawsuit building up too apparently if you google it.

Also, I found this:

^Posted May 6th, 2011. I want to be part of this, or have him help me out.
There is also another lawyer that I found, the same Lawyer in the video, I might even give him a call.
Anyway, I'm fighting this, all the way.

you don't have to pay it - you don't even have to fight it.
if you don't pay, you will get harrassing calls for a while and then nothing.
they are not legally allowed to collect on this debt. all you have to do is ignore it.
now if only they would let me do that to the ticket i got from a cop recently.

I heard this on the News, But yeah, this only applies to L.A County (Sorry O.C and Riverside Folks LOL!) If you get a ticket because of those stupid red light/Stop sign cameras...You have nothing to worry about, It won't go on your record and it won't make your insurance premiums go up...Like what has been said, It's run by a private company and there's no way for them to enforce a collection of debt....That's why the city of Los Angeles has decided to not renew it's contract with the Red Light/Stop sign Camera companies...It cost them too much money to maintain and motorist seem to "behave" on their driving skills when they knowingly crossed an intersection that had a red light camera on it (Which is why they had a somewhat hard time trying to make real money off of these things).
