Coming to LA, What to Do?
I think I made a similar thread last year but i couldnt find it. Anyway me and 2 friends will be coming to LA in early November to visit a friend. We'll be there for a little over a week and looking for some things to do. I was out there around this time last year but unfortunately it happened to be the same week my friend was setting up his new warehouse for his business.
I'm pretty much just looking for anything to do that would be fun (pretty much open to anything since im going with 2 other people). When i was out there last year, as mentioned I didnt really do too much. Did the whole Hollywood blvd thing, drove all over Hollywood pretty much. Went to Beverly Hills, down to Santa Monica at the pier and Venice Beach. Also took a trip to Catalina Island. I believe my friends new place is right off Sunset in Hollywood, somewhere in the hills area. what are some good bars/clubs to go to? Restaurants (any type of food we're open to)? Anything worth seeing thats outside of the LA area? I dont know much about the area so I'm just trying to gather ideas.

Hiya! Since you've already done Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Venice, here are a few other ideas...
Go for a hike in Griffith Park, visit the Griffith Park Observatory, visit the Hollywood sign
Go to The Grove mall and the Farmer's Market at 3rd and Fairfax
Amusement parks in the area - Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia has some GREAT thrill rides. Then, of course, there's Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm in Orange County. And Universal Studios and CItyWalk in Universal City.
Museums - The Getty, LACMA, MOCA
Disney Concert Hall
LA Live in downtown LA (clubs, restaurants, concerts, Staples Center, Club Nokia, Nokia Theater, etc.)
The rooftop bar at The Standard (there's one on Sunset and one in downtown LA)
Restaurant Row on La Cienega (Lawry's, STK, The Stinking Rose, The Bazaar (at the SLS Hotel), Morton's...)
Other acclaimed restaurants: Spago's, Crustacean, Campanile, AOC, Hatfield's, Lucques, The Foundry on Melrose, Eva, Taste, Providence, Red O, Border Grill...
More casual: Joan's on Third, The Counter (burgers), In-n-Out Burger (burgers), Umami Burger, Go Burger, Father's Office (burgers and beer), The Griddle (brunch)...
Ethnic cuisine: Manna or Tahoe (Korean BBQ), New Capital Seafood in San Gabriel (dim sum)...
Out of town places to visit: Santa Barbara wine country (Santa Maria Valley); Laguna Beach; Pasadena (Huntington Gardens)
Have a good visit!

Try The Alibi Room...it's located in culver city...it's a bar/Restaraunt. They really have some good food there, Kogi tacos (korean fusion). If you're around LA area, can't beat downtown LA Live. If you want to go for a drive, go down PCH and then through the topanga canyons.

Manna is nasty. The only enjoyment I got out of that place is when people (especially girls) got drenched with champagne on their birthday dinner there.

Besides what people have already suggested....
The Boiling Crab (Great if your starving and with a few buddies)
Sprinkles Cupcakes (best cupcakes you'll ever eat, IMO)
Key Club (Host some good events and parties)
Boulevard3 (Great club if you want a nice spot to party at)
Good but expensive:
Rock Sugar (Santa Monica)
Chakra Indian Cuisine (Beverly Hills)
Providence (LA)
Takami Sushi & Robata Restaurant (Nice view - LA)
There's way more, they just aren't coming to mind at the moment

Some of these may have been mentioned..
Take the TMZ bus tour. My g/f took some out of town guests last month and they all had a blast. It's a 2 hour comedy show on wheels.
Take a drive on Mulholland from near the Hollywood Bowl going west, stop at the Rock Store (http://www.rock-store.com/), chill for a bit and end the day anywhere along the beach (Malibu, Zuma or watch the 'entertainment' along Ocean Front Walk in Venice). At the Rock Store (and driving along Mulholland), you'll see various bikes (and often cars). Best to start around 10AM Saturday or Sunday morning.
Spend an evening at L.A. Live (http://lalive.com/). Plan in advance what events/happenings are going on.
There's plenty of great food to eat in West Hollywood and Beverly Hills along with of eye candy and celeb sightings.
About 80 minutes east of L.A. (and also about 90 minutes south of L.A.) there are Indian resorts/casinos to enjoy. Nothing like Vegas but it is legal.
If you want a day of just kicking back, head to Palm Springs or Rancho Mirage. About the most tranquil place within SoCal.
If you're adventurous, plan a two day trip to Vegas. Leave 9AM one morning (about a 4 1/2 quick drive), check in, do the 'Vegas thing" and leave the following morning/afternoon.
