Default Beware random emissions and vehicle inspection check point..

Just a heads up for you guys who drive here in the So Bay area Torrance near Toyota Corp. Vehicle Emissions & Inspection Check Point located on Van Ness & 190th St. I was fortunate to be on the North side of Van Ness while driving through, seen several fixed up cars & regular cars pulled over on the side with CHP hooking up tail pipe annalizer..

Thanks for the tip. The ones I've come across they are looking for older model cars 10-20+ years.

What happens if you're on your way to work, School, or perhaps a final? This would surely make you late. Do they take that into account before running emissions tests?

They could care less. To them, its just an excuse to get out of the testing.

Yup they can care less about who you are! A friend of mine even got pulled over in a exempt county work vehicle while on the field! And he told the CHP Officer & BAR Inspector he worked for the county of LA, didnt matter! He was in dis belief... This is the third time ive seen this random check point in the So Bay! If your driving around with engine mods? make sure you have your CARB stickers where they should be?! If not?? Hate to be You!!

uhh guys, afaik these are to gauge the state of cars on the road and target old gross polluters, not to actually enforce CARB regs. I've never heard of anyone actually getting a ticket from them.

Here is a news report stating the BAR roadside checkpoints are voluntary. I have seen the same information in the OC Register.

They probably will ask you why you have out of state plates and send you on your way is my guess.

Unless you answer something like, "oh I live here, but register out of state to avoid SMOG"

"oooh I'm just visiting for the weekend officer"
I have AZ plates and Yuma is only 2 hours depending on how fast you drive. I don't think it would be too suspicious unless it was Florida or something lol!
