Anyone know of a good mechanic with fair prices to do my alternator? I dont wanna get ripped off at a dealership. Anywhere near LA, the 626 or even up in SF valley. Thanks for the recs in advance.

Thanks Killa, I actually called both of those, theyre not so sure its the alternator now.

if it's the alternator, it's usually easy to diagnose. If your car ran, then it died, and you got your battery checked and your battery is dead, then it could be your alternator isn't charging the battery....

OR...

You put in a new battery, the car runs, but then it dies and loses all power, then your alternator isn't providing power to the car AND it's not charging the battery, therefore the car runs, but only off the battery, then dead when the battery is dead.

What if all the lights, radio all that still works, I jump started it last night, let it run for ten minutes, turned it off, then it wouldnt start. I let it sit over night and all off a sudden this morning, the first time it kept cranking but wouldnt start so i shut if off, then pushed start again and it started again like nothing ever happened.

do you have a sound system in the IS? was your car salvaged or anything got replaced?

it could be the battery. go to napa or o'reily test the battery..

maybe your battery isnt holding charge from the alternator, autozone test both your alternator and battery
