us local IE guys should do a GMR run, early Saturday morning or Sunday. Who'd be down? the weather is nice, we could ride up GMR and split to Fork and come down the 39, its a mission but if you like to drive it's a sweet way to spend a morning.
I'm down. Did some work to it and haven't got to test the product yet.Where do I sign up?

You should go UP the 39 to Crystal Lake. Get a tuna sandwich at the Café up there. Then go down.

I was already planning to go tomorrow.
I am up there just about every other Saturday morning. I just go REALLY early, like at sunrise. That way I beat the bicyclists--I like to drive pretty hard and I don't want to scare them.
Angeles Crest Highway has never disappointed me. Nice amount of curves with great views on the portion between Mt. Wilson and Wrightwood. Every time I've gone, not much traffic on that section and if there are, most times they'll move out the way for you if they know they're going slow. There's one really straight section where cops like to wait at to catch speeders.
Another one I like to cruise through would be Santiago Canyon Rd from Irvine Lake area to around Foothill Ranch. Not that many turns and not much to really look at but a good road to just drive and clear your mind IMO. This one felt like a longer version of Carbon Canyon to me.
