Can't buy if out of state
Hi there fellow So. Calif. Lexus friends. My sister wants to buy a new Lexus while visiting from the mid-west. Local dealer says that corporate Lexus says "No" unless the person buying the car lives either in So. Calif. or a state neighboring Calif. (as in AZ, NV or OR.) Really? When did this new rule start? I know taxes, etc. would have to be handled but one would think that Lexus would love a sale no matter where the person lives.
Years ago a friend had a car "blow-up" while on vacation here. They bought anew one and continued on their trip. Seems reasonable to me. Any ideas about why this new policy is now in force? Thanks.

So perhaps I'm the only person here in So. Calif. that has an out-of-state relative that wanted to buy a new car from Lexus here and can't? It just seems a bit strange that they won't sell her one. Oh well.
