Apple introduced iCloud Private Relay with ios15 make sure to turn it off in Android vpn WiFi connection. It would be on by default if you have iCloud subscription. I had Low Data Mode turned on maybe that was causing wireless CarPlay connection issue but I need spend more time if this was the root cause.

My shortlist has come down to the two lexion and 4X4 , between lexion and 4X4 which one runs a higher android version,looking arounf seems lexion runs android 8 while 4X4 runs android 10 is that correct, and in terms of screen resolution which one is better between the two

They're both Android 10 but 4x4 has higher resolution screen. Honestly if you only plan use Carplay Android OS doesn't matter I hardly touch anything else aside from Carplay.
In your opinion between the two, which one should I go with
@InveredMP has both he's better candidate to answer, both are equally good unit IMO but Lexion has better joystick function. Installation wise 4x4 will be way easier because Lexion has separate hardware box it's hard to find a good place to mount it behind glovebox. Depending on your model yr some has more room than others. 4x4 has all hardware inside the screen.
Honestly both are really good. If you prioritize customer service, 4x4 wins out IMHO. I do like Lexion, Reyn did make my situation right but the customer service element of Lexion really frustrate me.
