Group Buy RRRacing/Penske ISF coilovers Group Buy
#91
Here was the initial estimate for the group buy.. So, 5+ could potentially get the single adjustable under $3K. Though, I might just go for the double adjustable if I'm already spending that much on qualify coilovers.

Its totally compatible with the 2IS, we may just advise on slightly different spring rates, depending on the application.
Just to get you guys a ballpark on pricing:
Pricing
2-3 orders -- $3350 for the double adjust, $3050 for the single adjust
3-4 orders -- $3300 for the double adjust, $3000 for the single adjust
5-6 orders -- $3250 for the double adjust, $2950 for the single adjust
USRS - $300 extra (discounted about $50)

Might be too late to join the GB but I have a couple of quick questions anyway.
1. I believe that Rafi recommended changing the shock fluid every two years. Is that a user serviceable activity (buy shock fluid and follow some procedure hopefully something you could do in your garage) or is essentially the same as a rebuild - ie take them off and ship them to RR or Penske to perform the maintenance.
2. What's the cost of a rebuild?

Here is the deal with rebuilds... a lot of people are scared when Penske says you should periodically rebuild the shocks. That recommendation is coming from the fact that they always want your shocks working 100% to specification, and they want your shocks to last FOREVER. If you buy a KWV3 or RSR's, I guarantee you that say 2 years and 30k down the road, it will not function exactly to the specification when new.
That said, you can drive your Penskes for 5 years without servicing them, but by then the reduction in performance may be noticeable, and the cost of rebuilding them may be higher due to need of replacing more parts due to wear.
Current rebuild price is about $575 per set.

Thanks Rafi, that's a fair statement thanks for the clarification. Certainly as all things age they don't work 100%. Perhaps some of the ambiguity does come from the 100% function. Even factory suspension ages over time. I'm not sure if the Penske option degrades faster then the factory suspention but $575 for a full refresh isn't too bad. Aside from the waiting time for shipping and rebuild that's really the only downside.

Update 3/23/16:
Ok, so we are setting a GB official close date of 3/28.
We are assuming 5 orders, so please use discount code "IRACEPENSKES" to get $250 off.
And use code "IRACEPENSKES-USRS" to get $300 off Penskes + USRS combo deal.
thank you!

It's showing a discount of $600 for the combined purchase. Is this a mistake?

Oh guys, the Penske's are great shocks, I've had a pleasure of beating on them for the whole season last year and I probably see some of you on May 22nd the handling is remarkable! Nice that RR is doing a GB I wasn't able to get that back then, you definitely won't be disappointed.

So wanted to thank everyone. We have 3 paid so far, should get the 4th today.
We are getting all the machined parts on Friday this week, and Penske should be ready with the shocks sometime next week.
We were also just informed that Penske pricing will increase by $120/set of shocks in April... so our base price will go up. Anyone thinking about ordering now or later should take that into account. Not only do you get the GB price now, pricing will go up $120 in April.
