If they were to make a permanent fixture, a mechanical assembly with pogo pins and an interface board could have been done, which is something I recommend if they will be doing this process a few hundred times. Writing custom in-house software for RRRacing only to use is actually much cheaper than releasing something for the consumer, hence no DIY at this time, no interface cable and no SW for the consumer i.e. Ecutek and Cobb solutions.

From what I've seen in the community, there was a lot of people interested in a tune. IMO, this was a large engineering task and a lot of risks involved especially if the consequence was a bricked ECU during R&D. I also agree that they are using off-the-shelf SW to disassemble and analyze the binary and review and edit All the air/fuel maps/matrices. Exciting stuff for the community isn't it?
Someone else who knows electronics! I can see three scenarios for how this is being done. They got in, deciphered/decrypted the bin. I can't imaging they're doing everything in a hex editor, but I could be wrong. I think more likely they've ported the bin into an already available software, make the changes and packed it back up. The method of flashing they're either using a pogo board like you mentioned. Or they learned enough to re-sign the bin and flashing it with tis. Or maybe they wrote a custom utility to convert the bin for native support in an already used tuning software for reading and flashing.

Haha I'd sign an nda just to get my curiosity answered!

Maybe we should start a list for people wondering what gains the tune will have on stock ISF?

For the IS-F owners (particularly the 08-10 MY) that had upgraded their Steering ECU to the revised 11-12 or 13-14 Steering ECU, there was a required calibration process using Techstream to get the new Steering ECU to work correctly.

Would a reflash to the ECU have any impact to the updated calibration of the Steering ECU (lose of revised settings)?

I'd venture to guess the extra 500 RPMs or so would be beneficial for drag racers. I've seen a few ISF running down the strip and the owners would let it bang off the rev limiter in 4th instead of shifting to 5th.

Raising the rev limiter isn't ideal unless you add the oil cooler. At the track I find myself short shifting more often than not to keep operating temperatures down. Running higher limits will only cause the motor to get hotter faster. I'd prefer the tune actually make full power earlier in the power band to save me an extra $700 worth of oil cooler!

Nah. Tis is using the can bus to talk to all of the cms. The calibration is stored in the steering cm and not the ecu.

Am I seeing that headers are not yielding much more overstock de-catted manifolds?!

If an upgraded tune (w/bored TB & raised rev limit) is only 2 - 3 weeks away, & there's only a $100 charge to bore the TB, I'll wait for these upgrades to be offered. Looking forward to viewing dyno plots when posted.
Thanks again Rafi & RR for your continued development. You da man!

nothing is off about that. horsepower doesn't just keep stacking on on top of each other. you already gain HP/TQ fron the headers. now its just maximizes a bit of extra gains.
