Uh oh guys....

First issue with my flash with the 7200 rev limit.

Anyone of you guys with the higher rev limit having this issue? After 6800 it seems the transmission slips or something... Already PM'd Rafi, let'ssee what's going on...

Check out the video....pay attention to the needle as it hits 6800.

I can't tell exactly when you tried to shift it but it seemed more like you pegged it off the limiter and then shifted. Edit- after researching it several times I kind of understand. It's like the transmission unlocks the TC at 6800. Interesting...

I was purposely running it out till the rev limiter to show the issue. It would accelerate till 6800 normally, then something just "slips" or something and the revs shoot to 7200. Pay attention to the needle once it hits 6800, it shoots to 7200. It's as if I shifted into Neutral right at 6800.

That stinks, but I'm sure RR will take care of you.

That said, this is another reason I won't change my redline when getting tuned some day.

Yup, exactly like that. I'm hoping it's just a small oversight during flashing or something because I really love the 7200 limit, would hate to be stuck at 6800.

Wonder if the fact that yours is a 2012 vs the older Ecus has something to do with it. Just thinking out loud here.

Yeah I'm sure they will, I'm just curious to see if others with the higher limit are having the same issue.

Mine does that too, jumps from 6800 to 7200... I wasn't sure if it was just the tach bumping up or trans unlock... Odd. It's hard to time the shift when it jumps like that.

Hmm, we both are 2011+.

Wondering if any of the earlier guys are having issues.....

+1 on timing the shifts with the issue, with the way it jumps from 6800 to 7200 it kinda defeats the purpose of the higher limit since as soon as it gets to 6800, it jumps to the 7200 rev limiter pretty much immediately.

I'm assuming if it feels like the trans slipping then the torque converter is probably unlocking and you are getting no benefit of the increased rev limit. Does anyone have the increased rev limit with an 08-09 that can comment?

Yup! That's exactly what it feels like, seems like the TC stays locked only till the stock 6800 rev limit.

I'm hoping it's just an issue with the 11+ and they can have a remedy to fix it since I doubt RR would release the higher rev limit tune knowing the ECM is not allowing full lockup after 6800 rpms.

I don't pretend to know how our magical 8speed autos work but I assume the TC stays locked during shifts also? If it really is an issue with TC unlocking after 6800 then locking up for the next shift ect, that doesn't seem too healthy for the transmission?

My year figure could be off a little. I'm basing that off Volvo switching to fly by wire and CAN bus that year.

That is correct, you cannot swap ECU's around from car to car, it won't work.

sorry guys, at this time, I don't have the answer but from the video it looks like the torque converter is unlocking at the stock redline.

Not sure why this is happening, as our shop car is a 2010 and this definitely does not happen. We also tested it on a 2008 on the road, and this did not seem to happen.

We will send out an email to everyone who has received a 7200 rev limit tune and survey which years are having issues, and which are not.

If we find that the issue is limited to certain years, that would require re-flashing the TCM on those specific cars, which should be possible. The TCM is a separate chip located on the ECU board.
