I think it did.....

What I'm having a hard time figuring out is why Leatherseats.com has an application for a '98-01 RX300 but does not have anything for a GS '98 and up. You can't possibly tell me that there is more of a demand for the RX than the GS.

Come on guys.....

Come on guys.....
All it takes is for one member to send his seat covers in to leatherseats.com so that they can take the pattern off of it..If any of you second gen gs owners are going to have your car parked for a few weeks or don't mind driving on a milk crate then send your covers in so that other members can get their interiors done..Heres a suggestion, why don't one of you guys contact JPI and ask him if he still has his seats and ask him to send in his seats for patterns..His car is under the knife right now and will probably be parked for awhile, maybe he is willing to help out CL members..Just a suggestion, I know their are alot of second gen members that would like to have their interior re-done or custom..

Thumbs up Count me in, if still available...

OK, I'm new to the group. Not sure if this group buy is still open, but if it is, I'm in.

'92 SC400... interior is tan or ivory-- not sure. Could you send me some swatches to match? I'd like to do OEM-color match on the seats, with suede inserts in the middle of the seats that coordinate with the darker dash color if possible... if not, then just all-leather OEM match would be fine.

drop me an email (jrj@spamcop.net) and I'll send along address information, etc.

Thanks!

I just checked this thread today and looks like there is a ton of action on it. Anyways I just wanted to respond to some things I have seen and to questions that have been raised.

Why do we not have the 98+ GS interior?... the same reason johnee78 told everyone. No one sent it to us. Someone was willing to send the 98+ RX interior to us, but we have never gotten the GS. I dont really know the reason why and I am not really sure why 6 people so far have promised to send me the interior and have not. There is one guy on the boards right now that said he shipped out his interior last week, so hopefully I should be getting this in very soon.

The other question was asking if another GS group had fallen threw or something. This is definitely not the case seeing as we havent had a second group buy yet. I have been waiting to start one until I get the GS interior patterned which I am hoping happens by the end of the month. If I do... I will then come on and announce to everyone that we have the pattern and then also immediately start up a group buy since I can see there are at least a few other ClubLexus members that want a group buy ASAP. If I dont... I will probably still start another group buy if there is enough interest and hope that someone else will volunteer with the interior and come threw with it.

On a side note, I have no reason to believe this guy wont deliver so... hopefully we will find out soon.

Jeremy

Jeremy, I understand that you are looking for help to start this 98+ GS pattern however I still find it hard to understand why a company like Leatherseats.com would even have to ask a potential customer to send in their own seat covers so you guys can get the pattern. Why hasn't leatherseats.com stepped up and purchased the pattern themselves so you can start the R&D on it. IS cost the issue that's why nothing has been done? I'm sorry if this post seems a little rough around the edges (it's not meant too) but from a business stand point, it seems like Leatherseats.com will not offer a 98+ GS pattern until one of US steps up which seems completely backwards...

The 2nd gen GS has been out since 98 so there's no reason why you guys shouldn't already have a pattern. There is a demand so lets see it happen....

LXOGOOD: Its ok to be a little rough. I dont mind you being somewhat rough as long as its not just flat out insulting. You said why dont we just start patterning on our own... thats a good idea. Where do you suggest we get the pattern from? Lexus wont give them to us and I havent been able to track down any totaled GS's that have the seats still in them. Even if I did track them down, the junkyards and people selling them normally want a grand or two for a complete interior in good enough condition to pattern, then I have to pay my guys to pattern the interior, which normally runs several thousands of dollars. The only other place I know to get them is from Lexus and that would probably run around $3000 or more. Probably more. The reason that patterning is so expensive is because you have to take every pieces of the interior apart stitch by stitch to get every single piece laid out correctly, then I have to have engineer or someone that knows how to design things in a CADD type system to put all of that into my Gerber machines. So basically I would end up spending around several thousand dollars getting the GS interior. Now I would love to be able to justify the cost of that with you all, but I dont think I can since we are already selling the interiors at quite a bit of a discount to you all. Besides that, I think there are only 5-7 people who want the 98+ GS interior. At full price without the group buy discounts that would maybe add up to $4300. Our profit margin on that is a lot smaller then that because of the cost of the raw materials and man hours involved. You already know what everyone else charges and you know what we charge. We have very good prices compared to most custom interior jobs so the profit wouldnt nearly cover the costs of patterning. Even if one of you all decided to send the interior to us I still wouldnt make money off of it right away, but it would reduce the costs to the point where its more justified over a long period of time.

But besides all that technical junk... I cant find the complete interior. I found the front buckets once for a pretty good price, but they werent in good enough condition to pattern and then I would still need the rear bench. Anyways those are the reasons... I hope that helps.

Jeremy
