prices compared to them
great job 2740.85 was what i was quoted after tax (ouch beyond belief)
good job 1400-1600 after taxes
so so job-600-800. mom and pops places
imo all three will do the same job in my book. it just depends if it needs minor touches, if they will get done maybe...so the 600-800 will be the same as 2740 prob

JDM SC4, I think the rear bench has vinyl inserts and to get 100% leather you'll need to get the following option:
Premium leather upgrade....$100.00(adds more leather to rear seat covers)
This is if I recall correctly from the Acura Legend Leatherseats.com group buy. Really nice looking seats from the pictures and from what I've read.

Some Questions....
I don't want to be a negative person here for this group buy, but I want to caution some people. Sure a new set of covers are great if yours are torn or worn out. There are several questions though:
1. Will the same areas that have leather and vinyl on the OEM covers be there on the new covers? The inexperienced person might think a good vinyl is leather when it really isn't.
2. Will the same type of leather and vinyl be used as the OEM? When you use different leathers and vinyls with different stretch and set characteristics you could end up with a really baggy seat after some use.
3. What is the durability of these covers? The seat manufacturers have to meet strict OEM guidelines fro durability.
4. Unless you have an expert put these covers back on your seats you will never get the same fit and finish as the originally built seats. There are many fixtures used in when building these seats on an assembly line that help do what a human could never do. In many cases, to take the covers off and out them on the seats need to be disassembled. This is also not recommened. You could break permanently affixed plastics and fasteners which could end up costing you a lot of money from the dealer.
These are just some cautions. I am not trying to rain on someones parade here. In my time I have seen a lof of people ruin their cars beacuase they thought new covers would make they car look different or even better than from the factory. I would hate to see some GS's messed up out there. I would be very interested in seeing a GS400/30 finished product though.

I emailed leatherseats.com on 11/22/03 and this is what i got back. Hope this is ok, i dont know if eric is still with them.
Dear Chris,
They are full leather seating surfaces on the front seats with vinyl sides
that wrap underneath the front bucket cushion and plastic back panel.
The rear seats are leather inserts only with vinyl wrap and side trim. As
you can see from the pics you cannot tell the leather from the vinyl by
looking at it. We do have higher leather content kits available, but as the
leather content rises so does the cost. These same seat covers from Lexus are over
$3000.00 and they do contain some vinyl content.
Thanks,
Eric

Just to shed some light on this subject.....I used to work for a company that dealt with all of the local car dealers installing aftermarket options such as leather seat covers, sunroofs, etc, etc. Here are some facts for ya.
there are a ton of OEM seats out there that use both leather and vinyl on their seats...high end ones also. This is more the norm rather than uncommon.
I dealt with every car dealer in the DC/ Baltimore? Northern VA area.... I can guarantee you that these so called dealer options are not OEM options unless ordered from the factory that way. If you walk onto a lot and see a car that you love, but it doesnt have leather or a roof....the dealer will put leather and a roof in that car for you before he lets you walk off without buying. Does the dealer install these options...NO...they send the car to a local company to do it. The company I sold for used Katskin products, which I would geuss are the same as this company...I was told by them that they get their leather from the same supplier. I know from personal experience that the Katskin kits came out looking perfect, you could never tell they werent OEM installed. So I wouldnt get too caught up in the half leather half vinyl issue..its not uncommon at all. The only issue I would think about is how well you think you could install the kit.
