the gs and sc needles are completely different. White faced are the only one's that have the ability to be a different color. these are found in 92-94 SC's. (see, the old clusters are good for more than the new one's are.)
The Sixteen comes in Green, Blue, White, or Red.

then you would just be doing the backlight as normal in the GB. The needles are just a perk.
(somehow i didn't think this would take ten days

Brian, sorry to sound like a knumbskull, but I have no technical knowledge in terms of electrical/lighting concepts and I have no fear of admitting that. Am I understanding this correctly as to say that I can get my backlight for the cluster updated (mine started to konk out yesterday, I read a post that said by whacking the dash the lights would come back on, they did, but I can see that this is only a quick fix) as well as new needles for a total of $184.95 plus shipping charges? Also please explain to me the diff between the "16" and the "32" so I know which would be best for me. I have a 1992 SC300. Thanks.

Thanx Jmai22, perfect simple explanation. Just what I needed to know. Now, next question...is the 16 equal to or brighter than stock? If it's brighter than stock than that should be all I need. You think white on white would look too plain? I just don't want anything too crazy looking (like red needles and a green backlight)...

stock has this yellowish color to it which i do not like. but the 16 or 32 will have a pure white color and from pictures that i have seen they seem a whole lot brighter than stock. even the 16's.i think white on white will be too plain. i'm thinking of going white on red needles.
