Here's the link to K&N oil filter:

http://knfilters.com/oilfilter.htm

I can't tell whether the Toyota filter is better or not. Looks to me like the Toyota filter media soaks up more and expands.
Anybody?

Will this filter work on my 06 GX470 which has the V8 engine? I just had the dealer do the 1st service and they installed a Toyota 90915-YZZD3 oil filter.

yeap it will fit. The YZZD3 filter replaced this filter in the U.S. I actually put this on my is300. Worked pretty well. I'm currently using a K&N one which seems to work well with my redline oil. So far I have tried a TRD white oil filter, YZZD3 filter an the K&N. I may try this one if people think it's better than the K&N.

There is no overwhelming evidence that this filter is any "better" then any other filter. Based on the popularity of the filter with evidence provided in the previous links, it would appear the material and construction of the 90915-20004 is superior among common off the shelf filters.

Take that for what it's worth and buy the best filter that works for YOUR application.

I buy the 90915-20004 due to the evidence provided as well as being backwards compatible with other Lexus/Toyota applications.

I bought a case of 90915-YZZD3 from my brother, who is the parts manager at Royal Moore Toyota in Oregon. He said this was the last case he was able to get. Is this the same filter that you are selling? It looks exactly the same but it has YZZD3 at the end instead of 20004 I thought the ones I got are the good imported type.

Question two questions

Twinkie2000, LexSOOS, and others:

Just ordered a case from Gordon @ Carson - smooth transaction.

The case is going to last me for a while - probably over 3 years.... any suggesting for storage and/or how long I can store until use?

Also, can these be used on a '99 RX300?

Thanks for any input you might have...

The top of the filter(GUTS) will come sealed from the factory,so as long as you don't submerge them in water you will be fine.
Oh yeah this is my second case
I don't know if any one remembers that this filter is very similar to the TRD Japan(red) oil filter and it's half the price.

The 90915-YZZD3 are the standard filter being offered at any toyota dealership right now. They are like the lesser quality ones provided in the pictures from the link where they were opened up. I think that jvillagran nailed it right on the money, these 20004 are basically trd red filters but for half the price. If someone were two cut open the trd red against the 20004 those would probably be the same thing.
