To determine your navigation version - press the MENU button on your navigation system, then press the VERSION icon on the screen. This will then display the data version to which is currently installed in your Lexus. Please be mindful, once your navigation system is updated with the new disc, you cannot go back to the previous disc version.

I'm assuming that this DVD only updates the map. But from the way you said you can't go back to your old DVD it sounds like this also performs a software update on your navigation system. Can you clarify please?

I can clarify...
2006 ISx50 = V5.1 of the DVD Navigation Disc = V1550 firmware
2007 ISx50 = V6.1 of the DVD Navigation Disc = V1650 firmware
The disc that is being sold, is the new disc, that comes with the 2007 model of the ISx50, and is V6.1 of the DVD Navigation Disc, V1650 firmware.
Upon inserting this disc into your ISx50, it will update the firmware to V1650 automatically, you cannot stop this from happening.
If you want to know about the override, or going back to old firmware once the disc updates, then do a search as this is NOT the appropriate thread to discuss such things.

same here... i'm thinking lexus cant just stop making updates for us with hard-drives... right? so i'm thinking that maybe they'll only update them every 2 or 3 yrs... seems like a reasonable thing.. if they do
