What's the difference between a 2-stage and 3-stage colors? Is Obsidian a 2-stage or 3-stage color?

The 3 stage are most of the pearl colors, those are the ones that are harder to match. Matador Red would be an example of a 2 stage as it is just paint and clear.

 

Would obsidian fall into that category? It's just black paint with clear coat too right? Sorry for all the questions since I just want to make sure before placing an order since there are two black colors, obsidian and black onyx. I'm not sure if both are 2-stage or one might be different from the other.
