I mean is it necessary to do it by routing the wire to the battery? I would rather just have it plug right into the connector for the fog light that is there and have to do no other wiring.

yes, it's pretty necessary. even though the ballasts only pull a 3-4 amp draw during normal operation, the startup amperage is still a little high at 8-10amps.

this is just the norm for japanese import cars, some customers with vehicle that use lower gauge wire can get by without a harness.

either way, it's always recommended to use a harness when you're adding something aftermarket. likewise - you wouldn't want to add an aftermarket amplifier w/o running a cable to the battery.

So you would recommend a relay kit for all aftermarket HID kit?

How much do they cost and how do you wire it on a IS350?

Cliffud, you had two links posted for buying the HIds one for CL and one for the 2is. whats the difference between the kits? and is it possible to get a slim kit where i don't need the wiring harness but direct plug and play for the Fogs. looking to go 4300K to match stock, want to go whiter but i like the output of being able to see.

most of the aftermarket hids are plug and play. should work without relays and if it doesn't then buy some. doesn't cost alot like around 20 bucks for the relays. the relays plugs from ur ballast to ur car battery. the hid kits cost 130-140 from cliff.
