okay so i just bought a 4th gen nano and freaked out when it would refuse to charge and also gives me an ipod error message on the touchscreen. From what i've read i need an adapter for the SL2vi part i have in my 2007 RX 350.
If i upgraded to the sl2vu does this do the same thing as the sl2vi plus give me charging ability with the new ipods/iphones.
so the adapter does that go between the ipod and the current cable i have now? if so that is pretty clummsy. Is there a way all i have showing is the current cable?

But what of the error message i was getting on the touch screen "ipod error" I don't get that with any older ipods just he nano 4th gen.
So i have my ipod cable from vais piece, then i'm adding an adapter to it and plugging that into my ipod. Visually it looks really messy sandwiching the adapter between my existing cable and the offending ipod. Will the connection be secure with this adapter in the middle while driving?
Could you not have a cable go into the adapter then have a cable come out of the adapter this way the only thing that shows is the cable i.e visually nothing changes but the magic happens behind the dash or wherever your Vais piece head unit is installed.
