Maybe the way to go is to persuade Lexus to make HIDs standard or optional on the next year's car, and to make the installation such that it can be installed as an upgrade on earlier cars.

optional HIDs
At purchase in Spring 2001, dealer said HIDs were not available. Have to go in for one year checkup, will quiz again AND get the bushings replaced. Thanks for the tip.

IF your considering this upgrade.....all I have to say is ...Get It.
I place my order early last week. The deal was exactly as Manaray described. I received my kit on Friday and was installed this weekend, I would have only taken a shot time to install but I had to remove my previous Hid install. It's a quality kit. I went for the 6000k kit and was all smiles once the sun went down. Just wanted to share this info. Thanks again Manaray.

Hi,
I want to give you guys updates about this kit. (6000K one)
I receive the kit today and install it right away. It only takes 3-4 days for delivery, pretty quick for international shipping.
Manaray already gave a very detail installation instruction so I will skip that part and post some pics only.
For comparison purpose I install driver side first.

I'm very satisfied with this kit. It's day and night different compare to the original halogen bulb. My fog lights looks so 'yellow' that I don' t need a yellow fog lights anymore. 
By the way, the problem that manaray mentions above <plug #8> is already corrected by them when I receive the kit. No need to flip clips to free the lugs inside the plug. Great customer services!!

I'm glad to hear you guys are happy with the kit. Like I said, DEFINITELY worth it! To this day I'm still "tickled" when I turn on my SC's headlights! 
Hehehehe...
I should have the 6000K bulb within a few days...I have received a confirmation email from AutoLamps about delivery....I will have to do a side by side with my GS once again...
So I take it the installs were pretty easy Gadget and Damnboy?
