Unhappy I'm Out

After a month of trying, American Stitches could not match my JDM Blackwood trim. Manaray, thanks for being patient. I'm going to ask them if they can paint my wheel to match my car color (Silver). I'm debating on whether it will look good.

Check out this example: http://www.american-stitches.com/ams...es/index2.html

Mrsypher, good luck man. Don't know if they can match your trim either.

Anyone who wants to see the photos of how close they got, just PM me with your e-mail address. The files they sent are too big to post.

Yup, it's different. Talk to Terry. He was quite helpful. It's gonna take a while. Keep following up with him once or twice a week.

Let me know if you have any success.

Just got my wheel back from A/S today. Can't wait to re-assemble it and put it back on. It's beautiful, I'm happy now. The whole process took exact 12 working days plus back and forth UPS to Dallas TX.

America Stitches will not do the conversion without a sample wood piece. I sent in my wood shift ****, so I bought this temp. **** from Pep Boys for $10. Don't call me "rice".

A/S now uses longer wood pieces for GS wheel.

The thickness matches perfectly between wood and leather section.

This wood piece gives you much better grip than leather.

JacobT, does the leather match the airbag module better in person than in the pictures? When I compare the leather on your steering wheel on to the leather on the seats and door panel it seems to match perfectly. It may be that the surfaces of the airbag and leather are different effecting the picture.

Also, did you get the non-burled grain of wood. I remember reading that in order to do the burled wood AS had to actually paint the patten on the wood otherwise it was a more linear grain. If you have the more linear grain it looks great - much better than I thought. The wood color matches very nicely!

I want to have my converted, just not ready to mess with it right now.

Due to the flash light, the leather color looks way off. But they matches perfectly if you see them in person. I will take some pics during the day so you can compare.

I believe Manaray mentioned that straight wood grain looks better than burled, so I chose to use straight. You can specify burled if you like.
