For any members who have this...does this exhaust have much drone at low rpms? How loud would you rate this one?

From a scale of 1-10, I'll say 2-4. It's almost the same as the Borla for those who has heard of it.

this looks like a great deal... let me do some research and i'll let you know soon.
I was going to order some other stuff from your website anyways.

Since you work at a toyota dealership and have connections to TRD....would you happen to have a
TRD exhaust for a 2001 4Runner? If so, how much is it?

Angry shoulda waited

WOW what a great price on that exhaust. If I didnt already have the exhaust I would jump all over it. FutureGSorIS there is a drone from the exhaust from about 2k to 3k rpm but above that there is just a real nice deep tone. On the loudness scale I would rate it about a 3 or 4. When I first received the exhaust the tips looked huge but once on the car they look perfect. They are angled outwards which looks real sweet. Definately recommend picking up this exhaust . Great price steve

WHY O WHY did I see this thread just TWO DAYS AFTER I gotten this HKS .

My impressions on this exhaust so far...

1)The startup is wonderful, a nice WOOF and settles down, though you DO hear a nice low hum at idle.

2) It is kinda loud INSIDE the cabin around 2k-3k. A little dynamating or the silencer should do the trick.

3) I haven't let anyone drive my car yet so I can listen to it on the outside but revving it in idle, from the outside it is not loud at all.

4) The canisters look DIESEL . Look like it could be used for NASA.

Much thanks to GS300RICH for the pics and Cong28 for your comments, thanks guys !

The exhaust is kinda loud inside the cabin at those rpm ranges, but not unbearable IMHO. I just dynomatted the entire trunk area and that makes a really big difference. I am also going to dynomat the interior from top to bottom so that should make it even quieter.
I had a friend drive my car around for a while and I was following him and the exhaust sounds excellent. It is not incredibly loud from the outside but when you punch it everyone will know its there. At the 2k to 3k rpm it is at its loudest until you get up to the higher rpm range.
Dieselman63 nice write up and I am glad you like the exhaust. What do you use to clean the cannisters? I have been using Mothers metal polish and it works pretty good but I am going to try some other brands. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hey Rich, didn't get a chance to buy any cleaners yet for the exhaust. Just gotten the exhaust put on Monday. I will go today to my local parts store and see what they have available.

Also, when you first got the exhaust, did you have a weird smell coming from it? I have a weird odor coming from the exhaust, its not super strong , just a scent. Maybe I have to break-in the exhaust before the smell goes away? After your exhaust got broken-in, did the sound get deeper/louder?

With my kind of drop (2.7inches) , I just *BARELY* made it up my driveway without scractching the mufflers. I am talking about a couple of CENTIMETERS. I am glad I don't have to raise the car now because I HATE WHEELWELL GAP.

Maybe I have different taste from some people here but this exhaust is not loud at all from the outside. Maybe what people are saying about "loud" exhaust is from INSIDE the cabin. GS300RICH, your right, its not unbearablely loud but you know its there. So I figured, if I would have gotten the l-tuned, RMM, borla or any other exhaust that is considered QUIET, it might be TOO QUIET for me.

I have been reading on other posts that some people get good results from the Eagle One Never Dull polish. I think I will try that this weekend and let you know how it works.

THE SMELL. Yeah there was quite a smell coming from the exhaust when I first installed it. It did go away though after about a week and now there is just a faint smell from the exhaust. The sound did get deeper, not really louder, but it was really only noticeable from the outside. Didnt notice a change on the inside of the car.

I did actually hit the bottom of the exhaust on a STEEP driveway at my friends house on the beach, and im only at about 1" drop. But everywhere else I dont even come close, so I dont think I will have a problem when I drop it about 2". 2.7" is a big drop

But you are right the other exhausts would have probably been too quiet for me. A few members told me the HKS was going to be TOO loud, but after talking to cong28 and hearing him talk about the exhaust I decided I would try it. If you dont like it you can always sell it right.
