Default Au-kee H11 LED Headlight Bulb Replacement

These came recommended by bulbfacts.com as the very best "value" option if you have projector housings. At only $50 a set (now only $32!) I thought I'd try them out as opposed to spending more than triple for the "best" rated LED's. I have installed them in an RX and now my CT. I am overall very pleased with the light output. Very bright, white light. Download visibility seems pretty good. The bulbs I had in it were Silverstars.... these LED's seem about as good as those, I think. Maybe better.

Post a picture of the light output up against a wall, because showing us the front of the headlights with all the glare coming back at us isn't doing a thing....

Drop in LEDS are poo poo... sorry but that's how it is. You are using the wrong optics in a halogen projector.

That’s ok, that’s just the picture I took so I figured I’d share. They work pretty good in the projector housing.

Nope, this is wrong. I've upgraded over 10 cars this year alone with LEDs both in projector and reflector housings. NO GLARE, good beam pattern. No issues. Much better illumination. And don't tell me they are brighter but not as good visibility or some nonsense. To be blunt I'm tired of the misinformation it's preventing people from making their cars safer.

It does depend on many factors, especially the LED drop-in replacement bulb used and the housing type. It's not misinformation so much as bad experience. But, as the LEDs get better and cheaper, more people have more success with them. I personally had perfect good success with these projectors and Morimoto 2-stroke 3.0 bulbs, and I'm a lighting snob lol. The glare was reduced because the LEDs only fired to the sides, not up/down, so the "squirrel finder" didn't get any light anymore. The reflector lights tend to be more glaring because the light still has to go somewhere, but on a projector, at least it has the cutoff shield.

So I'd also be interested in seeing the light output on a wall or road! I want to see more success stories to help replace my old school bad experience.

5 years ago most LED bulbs were awful, unusable. Now there are many good choices, some are still bad. Projectors are more challenging for LED bulbs vs. reflectors contrary to popular belief. If you want to see output patterns

No it won't represent all scenarios obviously but an excellent reference. No LED bulb is going to compensate for bad headlight design which will be masked by a dim halogen bulb.

That must be why the instructions specifically say to ensure the LED’s are pointed at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock. I did ensure to follow these directions.

I don’t notice any glare at all. I’ll snap a picture of the light on a wall or road if I get a chance soon.

Isn't it funny how these drop in LED bulbs are so much better than normal tried and true bulbs yet car manufactures don't use them. They are known to cut costs on a ton of things and it would seem simply swapping bulbs would be super easy yet, they spend millions of dollars on developing and engineering their own LED headlights. Wouldn't it be cheaper for the manufacture to just use off the shelf LED bulbs? What actual testing equipment are you using to verify you aren't producing glare with the brighter bulbs? How are you actually verifying it rather than just seeing it and assuming it's great. Please also show us the DOT approved LED bulbs you are using.
It's not misinformation. It's the wrong optics for the housing. No matter what you say that LED was not specifically designed for that housing. Show me any type of data point that prove otherwise. Most of the LED bulbs that people get are cloned copies with another name slapped on them coming from china. That link you showed even goes into what MOST tests already show as a looming downfall. That initial light output is strong and then after the LED bulb heats up (in his case roughly 30 minutes) the bulb drops to around 70% light output. So, losing 30% of your light isn't a bad thing? . Yep, LED bulbs are great...lol I get there are some cases where it might make sense. I find that most folks who swear up and down on LED bulbs have never done a proper projector retrofit with quality components to actually see what proper lighting should look like. I get it, it's time consuming and costs hundreds to do. I just don't like doing half solutions when it comes to lighting and safety. LED bulbs to me are a half solution and a crappy one at that.

I guess I'm just used to lighting like this. It's a single RX350 bi-xenon I'm adjusting on my CT. I've yet to see a drop in LED bulb look like this.
