New Lexus Hybrid: CT 200h (42 MPG) Updated with F-sport Debut

And CO2 is exact product of fuel consumption... So in Europe, CT200h and Prius will have same MPG results!
Now... maybe Lexus USA is playing it safe with their numbers, so Lexus trully did optimize the engine to better suit sporty and european driving.
p.s. all performance results are measured in normal mode, not eco or sport, as it is in Prius, both consumption and speed.

Unless the Euro and US versions are tuned differently I don't see how the CT can do both 0-60 and 0-62 in 9.8s. They probably stated 0-100 for convenience when it's really 0-97 (km/h).

well what I think the interesting bit here is, is that they just announced European Co2 figures and they match Prius's!

P.S. Thanks for the clarification in which ECU mode is used for fuel economy testings.

Euro Press releases say 0-62, which is 0-100kmh, which is what europe uses... to whose convinience would it be to use wrong number? . I would rather think US is playing it safe here, as this car is tailored for Europe, where majority of sales are expected (30k per year in very small dealer network).

I'm pretty sure the Prius gets a 89g/km CO2 emission rating, bettering the CT200h's 96g/km. Still the gap isn't nearly as big as their EPA fuel economy difference of 50 and 42mpg, which is indeed interesting.

there are also some rl pics from Lexus Europe Facebook page @ Car of the Year testings:

p.s. they also announced 400l boot, which is bigger than Corolla, and so this is definitely brand new platform, because Auris Hybrid has tiny boot.

EDIT: Oops didn't notice the Auris Hybrid's boot is just 279L, but still, it could just be the CT's better packaging and nothing to do with the platform.

I'm pretty sure the CT200h has just a 345L boot size, slightly smaller than the Auris's 354L. Wheelbase is identical at 2600mm, so they definitely are sharing platform, with the CT200h getting the sportier suspensions.

right... that only works if you are trying hard to make Auris and CT200h equal, and they are not.

Lexus Fanatic
is that bamboo ?
so now we have the true prius equivalent, with slightly lower mpg and better handling.
is america ready to accept a $32-34000 base price, $45000 loaded, slow but efficient hatchback?
It might do ok in europe. America is a big ?
