it is not that hard to understand - European CT200h gets same milage as European Prius. There is no any data conversion going on here.

I must agree with SICK, pricing is going to be CRUCIAL. Pricing will make or break the CT in the US. In Europe this model should do fine. A lot of things in the CT were designed specifically with Europe in mind.
I went to the Audi site and checked out the A3 TDI. 140hp, 34 MPG and FWD. Priced around 31k. Options can make it hit around 38k.

If memory serves me right, Audi doesn't sell many of them either. I think 500-700 total A3s a month.

Really curious where the CT will be priced and sales goals.

thanks a lot - 3 different leathers, 5 fabrics and 3 finishes... thats probably going to be most customized lexus interior experience to reach west .

Difference in weight between base euro and base NA specs are not actually hard to fathom - simply more options are standard in USA. It wouldnt explain difference in mileage at all, as UK PR that said 96g CO2 is the same as higher spec Prius, which is also heavier than base. In fact, with Prius, Toyota did not want to combine all the options together, since car would then not reach their combined MPG goals.

I doubt it can be priced much different.

i think with new platform, they mention a lot about new steel that is lighter and stronger, and not much mention of aluminium... That might mean they found ways to keep the costs down, as Prius is full of aluminium which gets the price up.

European base prices announced are just a bit below base IS220d price. Hybrid tech is expensive, and hybrid Auris is significantly more expensive than diesel one. In fact, Prius is more expensive than Avensis, which is higher class car... so if they do manage to keep the price below IS220d, Lexus might have an winner here (for Europe).

But i doubt it will sell much in USA. Best selling European Toyota is.... Yaris :-). Very different tastes and needs.

Is that the best finished Lexus trunk, ever?

To answer your question on the CT numbers from Lexus Europe PR, Lexus Europe put out a Press Brochure for the Paris Auto Show akin to the one that leaked out a week early for the Geneva Auto Show last spring. Unlike the open Toyota / Lexus / Scion USA Newsroom ( http://pressroom.toyota.com/pr/tms/default.aspx ), the Lexus and Toyota Europe Media Sites are more selective and bureaucratic and only allow registered media in. In the course of putting together my write-up for the CT200hForum.com site ( http://www.ct200hforum.com/forum/lex...-releases.html ), I decided to, on a whim, pop in there, and I was quite surprised to find that treasure trove of detailed info that Lexus Europe had posted since Friday 10 September. At first, I thought that merely making those comments on the U.S. Press Release article would suffice, but, as I had a chance to read that virtual brochure, I found many more little differences, to the point that a follow-up article about the European Press Brochure is in the works. Better yet, Lexus USA gave me the green light to reproduce the Press Brochure in question. Stay tuned...
btw, can you tell us more about cloth interior options in that PR? Any names?
On your site, i noticed those cloth interior pics - it is upscale cloth liked in Japan, and featured on some premium Toyota models (like Land Cruiser). I personally never liked it, hopefully they have some different fabric for European models.

Its so tiny. It fits two personal sized carry on luggage

If Robert De Niro was selling this car in "Analyze This" he wouldn't be able to say two bodies could fit in the trunk

I did the calculations for the CO2 emissions...

96g per kilometer + 42 mpg (67.59 KM) =

6,488.64 grams [14.3073 pounds] per 1 Gallon [3.785 Liters] (67.59 KM)
1,714.30 grams [3.78 pounds] per 1 Liter (17.85 KM)

96g is for something like 48 MPG US or 49 MPG.

Here is Auris HSD, notice the huge loss of trunk as usual with platforms not designed for hybrid vehicles. Actual space is 233l, with another 42l in under tray.

Not the mention fit and finish difference .

And if you thought that is small, check upcoming Scion iQ.

Stylish inside and out, potentially great handling to boot, and 42 mpg.....wonder where does that leave the HS250h?

I think the CT may end up like the A3 in the US, sales-wise. IMHO the CT is more important for Europe anyways, and that makes the HS very redundant here unless they can massively improve upon it in the next-gen model.

I agree. The interior, the details, the fit and finish; all of this is a step in the right direction for Lexus. This along with the 2011 IS update and the LFA does make me very excited about all of the next-gen Lexus models.

I also think CT200h will do well in Japan...
