Clueless How to Start
Hello
I want to make a lot of modifications to my car yet I am new and clueless of how to do this.
I did make a baby step and got my car tinted.
I am envisioning: (sorry I don't know technical terms. i am really at noob status right now)
1) dropping my car- someone was telling me I have to get a kit(?)
2) adding a clean/simple lip- i saw an amazon one but how credible is that?
3) tinting the backlights- Do I just by spray paint or is that the ghetto way
4) adding subs
5) rims- i really don't care about the size of the rims.
6) HID lights
I am a lost puppy needing direction.
Can you recommend any websites and please give any tips?

Welcome to the Forums. Watch out modding can become an addiction . As for your questions, it's really about what kind of money you want to spend
1) dropping my car- someone was telling me I have to get a kit(?)
Springs are the cheapest and keeps the ride more like stock. Coilovers would be next, then Air Suspension
2) adding a clean/simple lip- i saw an amazon one but how credible is that?
Many people have used the ebay lips, some fit great others need a little work
3) tinting the backlights- Do I just by spray paint or is that the ghetto way
You should have someone do vinyl, not spray
4) adding subs
A shop could do this or check out some of the post here and on CT200h Forum for advice
5) rims- i really don't care about the size of the rims.
This just down to what style you like and how much you want to spend. The bolt pattern and offset makes the choices a little more limited, but there are guys selling wheels all the time. My will be up for sale soon, getting a new set.
6) HID lights
There are HID kits from sponsors here and on ebay, they aren't that hard to put in, or you could get a shop to do it.
Check out the Vendor Marketplace below.
Not sure where in California you are but there are lots of recommendations for shops on the Forum

Reading and looking and looking this forum has been taking all my spare time.
I can definitely see the addiction to this.
For rims I am willing to spend no more than 1,500 for rims. I have been looking into BBS and O.Z. Do you have any opinions or warnings about these?
Thank you for your help. haha i am in dire need of some knowledge.

1. Car drop. Don't need kit, I got coil-overs, but if I could do it again I'd probably just get springs and save like $1k.
2. Lip. I wouldn't get the Amazon/Ebay one or ANY lip if you're planning to drop because if you drop (even stock), the car will scrape. I have no idea how wineguy drives on socal streets w/ that drop of his...
3. Tinting backlights. Glad I'm not the only one who dislikes the backlights. I actually wrapped my tail lights 3 times. Once just getting cheap semi-transparent vinyl from eBay, then high quality stuff - both came out pretty crappy TBH. Ended up buying the Lamin-X pre-cuts (link). They aren't perfect but the install is pretty easy and you don't need to remove the light assembly from the car.
4. Subs. I would just replace the speakers and put in a mini-amp. Speakers are easy. Mini-amp is a bit more involved. I made a DIY for the miniamp. Here is a link for the speakers. NOTE: This is assuming you have non-"premium" 6-speaker setup. Others have put subs in and you can find DIYs, but, for me, it wasn't worth losing what little trunk space I already have.
5. Rims. If you don't want to lose too much MPG I'd go with 18". That's what I have on mine, but that said, if I could buy again I'd probably go 19" lol. IMO, 19" fill up the wheel well perfectly.
6. HIDs. Definitely should be one of the first things checked off this list since it's cheap, easy to install and makes the car look much better. I got LEDs but HIDs give you more temp options.
GLHF.

Such good information! Appreciate it.
Sorry if this is the dumbest question. But are standard f-sport rims (which I currently have) are 17"?
How does the tires work? If I am going up to 18" does that mean wheels also all have to replaced as well?
Thank you!
