Mini VCI Cable TechStream
#47
- Anyhoo, I'm looking to purchase a cable and I thought I'd check this thread to see if any new info has surfaced since this thread was created 2yrs ago. Thus far it seems v2.0.4 firmware is still the standard. I'm simply looking to reprogram door locks on my 2006 GS.

Maybe these would work?

I have old V10 cable/software and it has always worked like a charm.

This is the only cable that will work? supporting active tests, reading error codes, ecu flashing, etc?

This cable^^^ is the only one I've found so far that is k-line capable. I just bought a bundle from Amazon which has the "HiLetgo Mini VCI J2534" cable which is apparently version 1.4.1 based off my Googling. I haven't tried to hook it up yet, but from what I just read in this thread, I won't be able to do "active" tests like access the ABS system to do brake bleeding which is one of the reasons I purchased the cable. I did some reading about this software and cables, but not enough reading I guess....

I'm know for a fact that there are other cables that will work for reading error codes and flashing ECUs, but for active tests... this is the only one I've located so far.

I bought this one a while back. Works great. Does live tests and I was able to change settings on my wife's 2018 NX with no issues at all. Longest thing was setting up the software to properly work with the cable. I checked and the seller doesn't appear to have anymore currently. I think spending $50 for the cable which you can get cheaper and more than likely the exact same ones being made at the same place is a bit much.
This was the exact setup I used to get everything working:

I did not not have to update the firmware as I made sure the cable that I bought was already the newest firmware.

Hi, looks like this tread is "semi-revived". If anyone has a 2.0.4 cable they want to sell, or a reliable place to order, please PM me.
Also, I do not do any repairs myself. I have a 2091 NX. So if I buy the older firmware, am I only losing out on "active tests", or is there anything else I will miss? Do active tests matter if you don't repair things yourself?
Thanks in advance! :-)

I bought my cable from eBay. I just searched and made sure that it had the newest firmware. In theory you should be able to update the firmware on the older one but if you can get the newer that's best. Two yeas later and the cable still works fine. Works with Techstream and talks to both my wife's 2018 Lexus and the 2007 Toyota daily beater...lol
