All the ones without Nav has that windshield button. I am in So Cal too and so far all of the loaner CTs I got from the dealer has it. And the pollen button does work. Some of the loaners have strange smell and usually pressed it 5 or 6 times will get rid of most of it. It turns off in about 3 minutes or so each time.

From everything I have read, it seems that when the climate control is in recirculation mode, it still allows a little outside air into the cabin, When pressing the filter button, I believe it forces 100% recirculation for 3 minutes so that all the air in the cabin goes through the cabin air filter (Toyota claims it takes 3 minutes to get the entire cabin air through the process).
Whenever I see a truck dumping tons of smoke ahead of me, or running through a dust cloud at a construction site, I hit the button and drive through. I also noticed odors disappear much more quickly when I use it. If you have allergies, I recommend hitting the button after closing any door or window to clean the air.

Turns out that my Prius also has that pollen button and when I pressed it, it changed to recirculation mode and blows the air at full speed. I get that it changes to recirc, but why full blow?
